The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a cornerstone of our efforts at Community Resource Services (CRS) to combat food insecurity in Lunenburg County, Nottoway County, and neighboring areas. Administered by the USDA, TEFAP provides essential food items to our agency free of charge, which we then distribute to income-eligible clients on a monthly basis. The food provided through TEFAP includes a variety of staples such as canned fruits and vegetables, dry beans, rice, pasta, and other grains, as well as occasional meat and dairy products. One of the strengths of TEFAP is that clients enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) are automatically qualified to participate in this program, ensuring that those most in need have access to nutritious food options.
